Spaciotempo football tunnels in action at top clubs
Spaciotempo have played a starring role in the success of some of Britain’s biggest and most iconic football clubs. How, we hear you cry?! With their fully customisable football tunnels that have graced the pitches at Old Trafford, Preston’s Deepdale ground and Alexandra Stadium in Crewe.
Professional football clubs require the best technology, facilities and personnel to meet the demands of their highly results driven industry. That’s why many of the biggest names in football head to Spaciotempo for their durable, customisable and rapidly installed players’ tunnels.
Manchester United’s football tunnel
Spaciotempo’s top class football tunnels grace the field at one of the world’s most famous and iconic football stadiums – none other than Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium. You may have seen their supersize players’ tunnel, finished in Red Devils red, in the corner of The Theatre of Dreams at every Premier League, Champions League and Europa League fixture this season.
Manchester United’s football tunnel is a game of two halves. The first part is 15m long and on wheels, while the second is a 2m long cantilevered section to accommodate the rise in ground level to pitch height. “It is imperative that we comply with Health and Safety issues and Spaciotempo reacted promptly to our bespoke requirement,” said Gordon Shields, Project Manager.
“They [Spaciotempo] bent over backwards to come up with a solution quickly and efficiently. The tunnel is a highly visible and important area of the pitch and the new tunnel provides a striking corner piece,” he added.
Concertina tunnel at Preston North End
Moving to the Championship, Spaciotempo also ran out overwhelming favourites to supply the concertina tunnel at Preston North End. To coincide with a new sponsorship deal with Tennent’s, their brand new, branded player’s tunnel was up and running at their Deepdale ground in time for the season opener.
“We were delighted by the proactive ‘can do’ approach of the Spaciotempo team in delivering an excellent new players entrance tunnel at Deepdale as part of a new sponsorship agreement with Tennent’s Lager,” said Preston North End Retail Manager, Warren Bennett.
“In a challenging timeframe they delivered a quality product at an excellent price. This was much to the delight of the sponsor after assisting with several changes in artwork to find the best visual standout for the brand. We would have no hesitation in recommending Spaciotempo,” he added.
Crewe Alexandra’s players’ tunnel
Meanwhile, League One team Crewe Alexandra FC were looking to increase the safety of officials and players on match days by adding an extension to their existing tunnel at the Alexandra Stadium. Spaciotempo had already supplied a shorter tunnel previously, to meet an earlier manager’s brief for a sports tunnel that allowed the players to interact with the crowd more.
However, with the potential for the tunnel entrance to become a flashpoint during charged matches, the club decided that a longer telescopic tunnel was needed for the safety of its players. Spaciotempo was called off the bench to install a 4m long retractable extension to the existing tunnel. Made of an aluminium frame, the tunnel stands 2.6m tall and 1.5m wide. Covered in the same bright red PVC as the original tunnel, it also bears the branding of the tunnel’s sponsor, ESTC, and retracts to just 30cm long.
Tony Green, Assistant Chief Steward, Crewe Alexandra FC, said: “The tunnel extension gave players and officials a safe passage back to the dressing rooms, allowing stewards to be deployed elsewhere in the stadium. It works really well and is very easy for us to operate.”
Spaciotempo are sending more and more football clubs to the tunnel – in the nicest possible sense – by installing their durable, flexible and fully customisable football tunnels at grounds the length and breadth of the country.
