Ex rated WIKA miniature thermometer for sterile process applications

Pressure and temperature measurement leader, WIKA's, TR21 miniature resistance thermometer is the only instrument on the market that combines a housing of just 19 mm diameter with ATEX and IECEx approval for the ignition protection type Ex i.

The winning combination of hygienic design, intrinsic safety and compact size, makes the TR21 an ideal multi-application thermometer for processes in the food and pharmaceutical industries. It is impervious to environmental influences (IP 69K ingress protection) and is easily cleanable from outside, as well as being suited to wash-down processes.

The TR21 works in a measuring range from -50 to +250 °C and is delivered with a direct sensor output (Pt100) or integrated transmitter (4 to 20 mA output). The integration into the process is achieved via a welded connection, orbital welding or a thermowell.

TR21-A resistance thermometer overview

The model TR21-A resistance thermometer provides temperature measurement in sanitary applications and can be used for the measurement of liquid and gaseous media in the range of -50 to +250C (-58 to +482F). Intrinsically safe versions are available for applications in hazardous areas.

These resistance thermometers are fitted with thermowells, whose process connections meet the stringent requirements, in terms of materials and design, of hygienic measuring points. All electrical components are also protected against moisture (IP 67 or IP 69 K).

It is available with direct sensor output or integrated transmitter, which can be configured individually via the PC configuration software WIKAsoft-TT. Measuring range, damping, error signalling per NAMUR NE43 and TAG no. are all adjustable.

The sensor is removable, without having to break into the process or disconnect the electrical connection, so hygiene risks can be minimised and downtimes can be greatly reduced thanks to the ease of calibration and maintenance.

The spring loading, integrated into the union nut, guarantees contact between the sensor tip and the bottom of the thermowell. This ensures a short response time and lasting high accuracy. The welded junction between the thermowell and the flange also makes the use of a sealing redundant.

Process connection, insertion length, sensor and connection method can each be selected for the respective application within the order information and the electrical connection is made via an M12 x 1 circular connector.
