Temporary Building Examples

Nottingham University

Spaciotempo’s first temporary building example is Nottingham University. The university was in need of a 3000-square metre bespoke sports facility for the University Park Campus. The university was undertaking a £40 million project to develop a new sports facility. As this would take two years they needed a temporary solution in the meantime and Spaciotempo was able to provide an interim solution during the redevelopment of the new sports complex. There was a need for this structure to be completed within five months, which included the planning, groundworks and completion – all of which they were able to accomplish on schedule.

The university is involved in numerous types of sports, so Spaciotempo created a 12-court sports hall, gym, three squash courts and two dance studios with sprung floors. They also fitted the complex with wet and dry changing facilities, office and storage and a reception area. Spaciotempo also installed all of the drainage and provided the framework, flooring and electrical equipment for the complex, including the heating and fixtures and fittings.

Port of Felixstowe

Another temporary building success story for Spaciotempo was a project with Port of Felixstowe. Felixstowe is one of the biggest and busiest container ports in Britain, with over 3000 ships arriving there each year. Even though the port required permanent structures, which were in the process of being installed, Port of Felixstowe required a temporary solution to ensure that individual shipping containers could be unloaded under a protective environment.

For this particular temporary building example, Spaciotempo supplied five 3m retractable tunnels linked to a 25m x 25m storage structure on a 5m eave. This versatile environment provided a structure that could be operated independently or as a whole.

Port of Felixstowe had very specific project requirements, so Spaciotempo devised a detailed, bespoke solution that matched their unique requirements. For this particular project, Spaciotempo supplied tunnels, roof and gables, framing and doors.

Tesco

The Tesco superstore chain is frequently expanding and enhancing their current stores to match demand and customer expectations. During periods of refurbishment, it is crucial for retail stores, including Tesco, to continue trading to ensure customers are not inconvenienced in any way.

A recent Tesco refurbishment in Bangor, North Wales required Spaciotempo to provide a fully insulated temporary retail store that could be temperature controlled. For this temporary building success story, Spaciotempo provided a 30m wide by 50m long uPVC building that was 4m high. This gutter fitted structure included many features that you would expect in a temporary store, such as glazed windows and doors, lighting and heating.

Spaciotempo is the UK’s leading expert in the design, manufacture, hire and sale of temporary buildings. If you would like to find out more about their temporary building success or would like further advice, visit their website  www.spaciotempo.co.uk.
