PIF’s inside guide to the forthcoming Achema 2015

Global chemical engineering and process industry technology summit, ACHEMA, takes place from 15th - 19th June in Frankfurt, Germany. With the event fast approaching, PIF looks ahead to some of the highlights to look out for if you're planning on attending this year.

Summary

ACHEMA is the world forum for chemical engineering, and the process industry, that doubles as an innovations' platform and technology summit. Organisers describe it as a 'trend-setting meeting point' and 'take-off for investment decisions' for an international network of experts and executives.

Exhibition details

It's a packed programme of events with some notable highlights. Last year's Nobel Prize Winner, Stefan Hell, gives the keynote speech at the opening session, which has a particular focus on innovation. Organisers have also introduced a new ACHEMA App, for Android and iOS, to give you all the facts you'll need whilst on the move.

There are several topic strands which run throughout the exhibition. BiobasedWorld makes bioeconomy visible and tangible, with more than 90 presentations on the topic including live displays about what goes into biorefineries and insights from the German research ministry. Meanwhile, more than 20 presentations will focus on Industrial Water Management and Innovative Process Analytical Technology.

Elsewhere, NAMUR, ARC Advisory Group and ZVEI will once again host their joint forum "Automation in Dialogue"(Hall 11.1 Foyer Northwest). A range of talks, spanning all five days, will cover the major themes of automation technology in the process industry, such as Modular Automation, IT Security, Energy and Resource Efficiency and Industry 4.0.

Location

ACHEMA takes place at the centrally located, and easily accessible, Frankfurt Convention Centre. Doors open to visitors from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Thursday and 9am - 4pm Friday. While for exhibitors it's 8am - 7pm. The centre is just 15 minutes by car from Frankfurt International Airport and the reliable public transport system connects the conference venue’s exhibition halls and spaces (which span the equivalent of 80 football pitches!) with the city centre. There are also plenty of hotels, restaurants and shops within walking distance.
