Endress+Hauser Liquiphant level sensor now Industry 4.0 ready

The latest generation of the world’s first vibronic point level detector, Endress+Hauser’s Liquiphant FTL51, is Industry 4.0 ready for the level sensor applications of tomorrow. The new and improved Liquiphant level sensor excels where other measuring principles fail, providing streamlined diagnostics that make preventative maintenance a cinch.

The Liquiphant level sensor from Endress+Hauser has been installed six million times in level sensor applications worldwide. Developed as a new measuring principle for customer challenges in the 1980s, the Liquiphant is regarded as one of the most reliable point level detectors available.

Now, the latest generation of the Liquiphant level switch is ready for Industry 4.0.

A level sensor for the tasks of tomorrow

Whether as overfill protection or dry run protection, the Liquiphant today performs many tasks in the automation of processes. But even the simplest measuring principles have to adapt to digital change. As such, Endress+Hauser saw the benefits of equipping the sensor for the tasks of tomorrow.

Those who prepare their company for the digital age today will optimise their field level as well as their information technology. This requires sensors that provide relevant data in order to initiate process optimisation, which is where the Endress+Hauser Liquiphant level sensor comes in.

Liquiphant and SmartBlue App

In the technology roadmap to “Process sensors 4.0“, NAMUR demands that a second, mobile way to communicate with the sensor must be opened and that the sensor provides information for preventive maintenance and process optimisation.

Furthermore, product information, such as manuals or certificates, must be available on-site at all times. Operators can now communicate with Liquiphant level sensors and the SmartBlue App from Endress+Hauser, the latter of which provides access to all important product and diagnostic data.

Liquiphant level sensors streamline diagnostics

In hard-to-reach areas especially, this speeds up the inspection of systems considerably. The new Liquiphant displays the status of the level switch either via LED or the diagnostic function of Heartbeat Technology in the SmartBlue App.

In addition, verification from Heartbeat Technology enables complete documentation. The newly implemented SIL Wizard also guides users through the recurring test in a simple and uncomplicated way.

Liquiphant FTL51 ‘simplifies human work’

All the digital innovations of the newest generation of Endress+Hauser Liquiphant level sensors are intended to simplify human work. For example, the Liquiphant FTL51 is used in storage tanks and pipelines for the level measurement of any liquids.

This versatile level sensor also works where other measuring principles reach their limits due to conductivity, flows or air bubbles. The Liquiphant has already been developed according to IEC 61508 and the "Safety by Design" principle, making it suitable for use in SIL2 and SIL3 applications.

Benefits of the Endress+Hauser Liquiphant

Here are the features and benefits of the Liquiphant level switch at a glance:

  • Simple commissioning without adjustment for various media
  • Universal measuring principle for use in all kinds of liquids
  • Maximum safety with Heartbeat Technology through real-time diagnosis of corrosion
  • Verification without process interruption, thanks to Heartbeat Technology
  • Proof test at the push of a button from the control room or directly at the device
  • Developed according to IEC 61508 for usage in SIL2 and SIL3 applications in homogeneous redundancy
  • Bluetooth Technology via a mobile device to identify, check the status, and access documentation
  • The recurrent proof test according to SIL and WHG can be carried out at the push of a button without removal. A simple and intuitively guided wizard in the SmartBlue App ensures correct execution
