Increase safe outputs with Murrelektronik’s Cube67 and MVK Metal Safety
Murrelektronik continues to push new boundaries in automation safety. When combining the new Cube67 I/O extension module K3 with the safe fieldbus module MVK Metal Safety it is now possible to create up to 12 safe outputs for simple, yet effective, safety installations.
Excellent protection for man and machine is the highest priority in the automation industry. Now it's possible to easily increase the number of safe outputs within a system by using Murrelektronik's combined solution: the modular Cube67 fieldbus system and the safe fieldbus module MVK Metal Safety. The upshot is a space-saving solution in the cabinet because safety relays are no longer necessary.
Cube67 I/O extension module
If there is an emergency on the shop floor – such as a guard door that’s left open or someone has activated a light curtain – outputs have to be switched off immediately. Combining safety relays with the K3 I/O extension module is an easy method to achieve safe outputs. This is a practical solution for smaller applications with basic requirements.
In order to design an installation solution based on Cube67 that meets the highest safety requirements, a combination of the compact and safe fieldbus module MVK Metal Safety with Cube67 I/O extension module K3 is an excellent solution. With the safe outputs of MVK Metal Safety – controlled by a PROFINET/PROFIsafe controller – it is possible to create up to 12 safe outputs on the K3 module. They are split into two safety circuits, each with three ports that have dual functions. This multiplies the number of safe outputs and is a simple and efficient method to increase the competitiveness of your machines and systems.
Fieldbus system with safe outputs
The original Cube67 fieldbus system stands for balanced and economic solutions. The innovative fieldbus system from Murrelektronik features simplified yet modern decentralised installations from the ground up. The I/O level is where it's needed; right in the machine and close to the sensors and actuators. Not occupying one large area or being concentrated in the control cabinet. While reduced dimensions ensure a compact and space-saving machine design.
With the shortest sensor and actuator cabling available, Cube67 allows you to not only reduce cable costs but also save space in the machine or control cabinet. Switching matrices is no longer needed. With Cube67 you merely need to make a bus change, rather than a complete system change, by changing just the bus coupler. This makes the machine installation independent of the controls and the fieldbus. That means that the application can be adapted to your PLC specifications without having to modify the I/O periphery.
