Discover MGA’s range of chemical resistant solenoid valves

PIF spoke to MGA Controls, based in Burscough, West Lancashire, to discuss their range of chemical resistant ball valves. MGA Controls explains that there are several different types of solenoid valve body materials that make some forms of valves chemically resistant. MGA Controls supply a range of chemical resistant solenoid valves for an array of applications and processes.

MGA Controls explains that chemical-resistant solenoid valves are imperative to industries that use aggressive media and are located in harsh or corrosive environments. Within this article, PIF aims to outline MGA’s range of chemical resistant solenoid valves.

Plastic solenoid valves

Commonly found in the offshore, plastics, rubber, and automotive industries, plastic solenoid valves prove extremely cost-effective. They are used in many process industry applications for the handling of aggressive media and harsh chemicals. PIF spoke to MGA Controls to outline several plastic solenoid valve types and their proposed uses.

Polyphenyl Sulphide

MGA Controls explains that Polyphenyl Sulphide is a thermoplastic that is often used as a solenoid valve body material as it can perform at temperatures above 200°C. Polyphenyl Sulphide is used in several applications, including electrical, automotive parts, and within cooking appliances, as it can be moulded, extruded, or machined to high tolerances.

Polyether Ether Ketone

Polyether Ether Ketone, also known as PEEK, is much more resistant to high concentrations of sulphuric and nitric acids, which gives PEEK excellent mechanical and chemical properties – making this a superior solenoid valve body material.

Despite being generally more expensive than other forms of valve materials, PEEK is considered a superior solenoid valve body material as it can perform well in a variety of demanding applications.

Plastic Solenoid Valve Manufacturers

MGA Controls Ltd supply a large amount of chemical resistant solenoid valves from leading plastic solenoid valve manufacturers, including Bürkert and ASV Stübbé.

Bürkert and ASV Stübbé solenoid valves are available in a range of polymeric body materials, including PVC-U, PP, and PTFE. MGA Controls explains that these materials are more resistant to corrosion, and this makes them better suited to applications where reliability and control of aggressive media is of significant importance.

The range of plastic solenoid valves available at MGA Controls are generally available in 2-way types and range in sizes from DN15 to DN50. These valves are available as direct-acting, or indirect-acting, and come in a range of seal materials, including, EPDM and Viton. MGA Controls stock a range of chemically resistant solenoid valves.

ABV Stübbé Type 150

The ABV Stübbé Type 150 is a direct-acting solenoid valve that is suitable for neutral, aggressive, or corrosive media. The standard version of this valve normally functions in a closed format, although an open version is also available. Due to its range of body materials, the ABV Stübbé Type 150 is suitable for a range of media and applications.

ABV Stübbé Type 150 key features include:

  • Direct-acting solenoid valve
  • Range of body materials, including PVC, PVDF or PTFE
  • Range of seal materials, including Viton (FPM) or EPDM
  • Normally closed function, with normally open options available
  • Range of voltages available from 24v DC, 230/50 with special voltages available on request
  • IP65 protection class.

Bürkert Type 0142

The Bürkert Type 0142 is a servo-assisted brass plunger piloted solenoid valve with an uncoupled rugged diaphragm that is specifically designed for aggressive fluids where an acid-resistant solenoid valve is required.

MGA Controls can supply various diaphragm material combinations and methods of operation, depending on the industrial applications. This 3/2-way pilot valve can be easily converted from NC to NO rotating it on the main seat.

Bürkert Type 0142 key features include:

  • Servo-assisted 2/2-way diaphragm valve
  • A diameter of up to DN 63
  • 0.5-6 bar maximum pressure
  • Unique isolated technology for contaminated fluids
  • Designed for use with aggressive chemicals
  • Plastic valve for aggressive and contaminated media
  • Rugged moulded diaphragm
  • Switching reliability with a feedback function.

Bürkert and ASV Stübbé chemical resistant solenoid valves are available from MGA Controls, with competitive pricing and a large number of components held in stock for your convenience.
