Bladeless wind turbine uses vortices to generate power

Spanish renewable start-up, Vortex Bladeless, has developed a bladeless turbine – that harnesses spinning whirlpools of air to create patterns of oscillation that are then converted into electrical power – that they claim is 40 per cent cheaper than conventional windmills, because of lower build and maintenance costs, and safer for birdlife.
