Water Industry Achievement Awards 2015

A veritable who's who of the UK Water industry will descend on the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 21 April, to find out who has scooped a gong at the prestigious Water Industry Achievement Awards 2015.

Summary

Back for their ninth year, The Water Industry Achievement Awards celebrate and recognise outstanding innovation and best practice across the industry, no matter the size of the company or the scale of the project.

There are 13 categories covering all aspects of the water industry – from 'Carbon Reduction Initiative of the Year' to 'Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Water Industry – open to the water companies, their contractors, consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers.

Event details

Organised by WET News and Water & Wastewater Treatment, the awards celebrate and reward outstanding innovation in the UK water industry.

The evening kicks off at 7.30pm with a drinks reception, followed by dinner, the awards themselves and then things are brought to a close with the chance to network at the official after party.

The awards are sponsored by water regulator Ofwat and water experts Imtech Water, Waste & Energy, Asset International, TES, NM Group, CPSA, Saint-Gobain PAM, Doosan, Sykes Pumps, Selwood, Teekay, and Talis.

Finalists Spotlight

The 'Engineer of the Year' category this year will be contested by two entrants.

Dr Paul Linford, chief technical officer and founder of Syrinix, is a leading specialist in signal processing technology who has specialised for many years in water leakage including work with Anglian, Yorkshire and Thames Water.

An electronic engineer, Paul worked initially in the defence industry before studying for his PhD at the University of East Anglia in Norwich (UEA). Subsequently he applied signal processing techniques to leak detection in water mains. After acting as a consultant for Thames Water and other companies in the leakage field, Paul formed Syrinix as a university spinout company.

Tom Mann C Eng. MICE, is principal civil engineer for Grontmij's water team. Grontmij is a leading European company in the Consulting and Engineering industry with world class expertise in the fields of energy, highways and roads, light rail, sustainable buildings and water. Their leading principle is Sustainability by Design.

Hilton Birmingham Metropole offers a prime location, close to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Genting Arena and Birmingham International Airport. It is situated off the M42 and close to the M6, M1 and M5 motorways. A complimentary shuttle service runs to Birmingham International train station and Birmingham Airport, just ten minutes away.
