Zero downtime with Murrelektronik’s Emparro Cap 20/48 buffer module

The latest addition to Murrelektronik’s Emparro family of power supply and filter modules – the new Emparro Cap 20/48 buffer module – promises zero maintenance or costly downtime and is the slimmest 48V buffer module on the market.

The right products in Murrelektronik’s Emparro power distribution system for 48V applications is finally complete with the arrival of the new Emparro Cap 20/48 buffer module. This compact component, which joins the Emparro family of power supply and filter modules, bridges power drops coming from the mains and helps to avoid costly downtime.

Lifelong maintenance-free ultra capacitors

The Emparro Cap 20/48 buffer module replaces battery supported buffer systems. Because it operates with lifelong maintenance-free ultra capacitors, it doesn't require any maintenance. At full load, the Emparro Cap 20/48 provides a buffer time of 100ms and bridges most of the voltage drops caused by mains.

If necessary, the buffer time can be increased simply by connecting any number of Emparro Cap 20/48 modules in parallel, thus reducing both planning and wiring efforts. This small investment pays off almost immediately as cost consuming downtime is avoided.

Slimmest 48V buffer module on the market

The high performance Emparro Cap 20/48 doesn't require much space in the cabinet. With a width of only 50mm, it is the slimmest 48V buffer module on the market. The spring clamp terminals (for wires with a cross section of up to 10mm²) ease installation.

They also ensure a permanent connection with no tools required. Label plates and LEDs to indicate operating modes keep the cabinet organized during operation.

Integrated signal contacts

With its integrated signal contacts, Emparro Cap 20/48 is able to communicate with the other components or the control. The buffer module indicates the current charging state as well as when it is operating in buffer mode.

By using the signal input, Emparro Cap 20/48 can be externally switched off and a forced discharge can be started. A Data Matrix code on the buffer module also enables easy access to technical documentation about Emparro Cap 20/48.

Additional savings with Murrelektronik's MSUD valve connectors

Energy efficiency in machine tools is an important issue and it is well known that relatively simple measures in big installations quickly add up to considerable savings. Murrelektronik's MSUD valve connectors with power reduction are one of those small things.

These pre-wired, form-A valve connectors supply 100 per cent power when starting up but, when a system is on hold, reduce their power consumption by 40 to 60 percent (pulse width modulation – PWM). If there are multiple valves in a machine, the savings will really add up.
