Spaciotempo temporary building aids Fujitsu storage extension

Spaciotempo temporary buildings offer quick, flexible and cost-effective additional storage. Telecommunications giant Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe actually extended their extension, as it were, by re-purposing their existing temporary storage from Spaciotempo.

Temporary building

Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe originally contacted Spaciotempo to arrange for a 10 x 20 x 5.2 metre, aluminium framed temporary storage building for its headquarters in the West Midlands – the centre for all their European business operations.

The structure was chosen to provide secure temporary storage and workshop facility for the refurbishment of one of its customer’s high-specification telecommunications HGVs, which effectively serves as an emergency mobile telephone exchange.

Spaciotempo temporary structures

“We have specified Spaciotempo temporary structures before for storage purposes,” says Operations Planning and Supply Chain Development Manager, David Macready. “So this deal was a natural evolution of the relationship when we had a new requirement. The flexibility of the Spaciotempo offering has enabled us to overcome space constraints on site and allowed us to meet our stringent need for security.

“Despite being a temporary building, it provides decent working conditions, protected from the elements and is totally secure. Featuring a roller shutter door, access is only enabled via key entry and due to the lack of ground works we have been able to position the building in the confined space between trees and existing landscaped areas, in full view of our security cameras,” he adds.

Flexible temporary buildings

When the project, and Fujitsu’s three-month rental contract, came to its natural conclusion, David saw the potential to put their temporary storage building to further use. This time, it would be put through its paces to protect components from inclement weather. Fujitsu extended their terms and when their five specialist HGVs require refurbishment work, they intend their temporary building to revert to its original purpose.

David continues: “When the original project was completed, a predicted upturn in a separate business area resulted in the need for a warm, dry storage area. The versatility of the building meant it was equally able to fulfil this role. With the first project funding the initial outlay, this is an extremely cost-effective ongoing solution for us,” he concludes.
