SOLID67 – Murrelektronik’s compact I/O module

For simple and quick field installation, especially where IO-Link sensors and actuators are required, the SOLID67 is the Murrelektronik I/O module you need. In this article, PIF spoke to Murrelektronik to discuss their compact I/O module, SOLID67, and its innovative design features.

SOLID67 – Compact I/O module

The SOLID67 compact I/O module functions in a temperature range of -20 to +70 °C, making it suitable for a multitude of applications. This Murrelektronik I/O module is designed with IP67 protection, along with one-piece zinc die-cast housing, with an extra protective coating. The SOLID67 is also weld spark resistant, vibration resistant, tamper-proof and has temporary immersion protection - making it perfect for use in harsh industrial environments.

Features of the SOLID67

SOLID67 is a Murrelektronik I/O module built with ease in mind. Its minimal space requirements, along with its shorter installation requirements, make the SOLID67 efficient yet simple to use.

Shorter installation time

Installation is simplified and cable runs are reduced because power is supplied to the SOLID 67 modules by compact L-coded M12 cables. The M12 L-coded connector leads can supply up to 16A of power. This means an increased number of modules can be ‘daisy chained’ together when compared to the conventional 7/8 connectors used by most other manufacturers.

Minimal space required

This particular Murrelektronik I/O module is designed with space in mind. The compact SOLID67 ensures that installation is simple and non-intrusive. The slim IO-Link variants have a width of only 30 millimetres, making them the ideal solution where space is at a premium. Sensors and actuators can be connected using the shortest cables, allowing the modules to be mounted directly next to the process.

Simplify storage with a compact I/O module

The multifunctional Murrelektronik I/O has the ability to support both ProfiNet and Ethernet/IP. The protocol required is selected by the ‘flip of a switch’. This means that a single topology design can be used whatever the control platform.

As well as its multiple protocol support, the SOLID67 compact I/O module is also able to support various signals whether digital inputs/outputs or IO-Link. Conventional analogue signals can be connected via Murrelektronik’s range of IO-Link to analogue converters.

Targeted shutdown

The SOLID67 compact I/O module reacts decisively to short circuits or overload on a per channel basis. Instead of the entire module shutting down, only the channel which is short-circuited is impacted. A red LED shows the error and a signal is sent to the controller while the module continues to function.
